Carbon deposits build-up and cause improper EGR valve operation, sticking vanes in the turbocharger, and blockages in the EGR cooler and DPF/catalyst. These deposits cause drivability problems and reduce power, performance and fuel economy.
Bardahl PRO® Diesel EGR Cleaner & Diesel EGR Rinse are each a part of a 2-step process designed to clean EGR valves, turbochargers, intake manifolds, EGR coolers and DPF/catalysts. The rinse is a water-based solution that is designed to be used after the cleaner to remove any cleaning residue or remaining deposits and to coat all metal surfaces with a rust inhibitor.
The cleaning and rinse solutions can be be applied in a 2:1 ratio or 1:1 ratio of cleaner to rinse depending on deposit severity. Use either a diesel EGR canister delivery system or a Diesel EGR cleaning machine that can accommodate a 2-step process and water-based chemicals. Follow the instructions of the equipment manufacturer regarding how to connect the canister or machine to the vehicle and properly use the solution to conduct a professional service. The EGR cleaner must be applied first and run through the engine, followed by the EGR rinse to remove any residual cleaner and condition the system. An oil change is recommended after conducting this service. Perform the service every 15,000 to 30,000 miles or as recommended by a technician. Dispose of any used or unused solution and the container in accordance with the local, state or federal regulations.
